Panteón Inglés

#Mexico

Panteón Inglés (“English Cemetary”) is located on a hilltop near Mineral del Monte, a small mining town in Mexico. It was built by English clerk Thomas Straffon for the English miners, most of whom had migrated from the Cornwall region for economic opportunities. The graveyard has a little over 750 tombs, the earliest of them from 1834. All the graves except one point in the direction of England. The exception is the grave of Richard Bell, who is said to have been buried in this manner as per his wish (he should not to be confused with the famous clown, despite claims to the contrary).
